How Much Does a Skytrak Forklift Cost?

The JLG Start

The story of JLG Industries and that of Skytrak started out in 1969. That was when John L. Grove founded the company. The following year, they introduced the aerial work platform which revolutionized the way that people work. They continued to come up with innovative machines and construction equipment that are aimed at making work easier. From drum rollers to scissor lifts and telescopic forklifts they had it all.

Then in 2003, the company acquired Lull®, SkyTrak™, telehandlers. That was the start of the legendary Skytrak forklifts. One of the reasons why these machines are so effective is because they were originally designed for the military. They are very rugged and they can handle a great deal of load.

SkyTrak Telehandler

SkyTrak Telehandler is currently the main selling telehandler for the North American market. These are not your typical forklifts. They are designed to handle bigger loads and provide more comfort to the operator at the job site.

The redesigned Telehandlers feature an improved boom speed. It’s controlled by a single joystick which means better functionality. It also comes with optional air conditioning that gives more comfort to the operator.

The SkyTrak Telehandler use Tier 4 Final engines that are designed to be fuel-efficient and have less impact on the environment. Another important advantage of Telehandlers is that spare parts are readily available. That means repairs are not going to be a problem.

Different Types of Skytrak Forklift

When you decide to get a forklift for your job site construction equipment , you should keep in mind that there are several kinds that you can choose from. It’s important to know these types so you can pick the right one to use.

Here are the different kinds that are commonly used today:

Warehouse Forklifts

This is the most commonly used type of forklift and the one that usually comes to mind when one hears about this type of equipment. It resembles a golf cart with forks at the front. As the name suggests, it is most commonly found in warehouses with lots of inventory. It is used for placing and getting stocks in the racks of the warehouse.

A typical warehouse Skytrak telehandlers can lift up to 5,000 lbs., but some heavy-duty models have the capacity for many times that.

Sideloaders

These are specialized warehouse forklifts and as their name suggests, they carry the loads sideways. That makes them ideal for use in very narrow spaces. They are also perfect for carrying long narrow loads like pipes.

Counterbalance Forklifts

As its name suggests, this kind of Skytrak Forklift weights the back to counter the weight of the load being carried. There are several sub-types of the counterbalance forklift and one of those is the 3-wheeled variant. This sub-type allows the machine to move in a circular movement. Another sub-type, the stand-up makes it easy for the operator to hop onto the machine.

Telehandler

The telehandler, also known as the telescopic forklift is a kind of a cross between a crane and a Skytrak Forklift. Skytrak falls under this category. The main advantage of this kind of forklift is that it can reach heights that are simply not possible for other types. Some telehandlers are meant to reach odd angles at great heights. Some models are designed to carry large loads.

Industrial Forklift

The main thing about the industrial forklift is that it is designed to carry loads that other types of forklifts cannot handle. Some Skytrak telehandlers are designed to carry loads that are as heavy as 30,000 lbs and lift heights of up to 30 feet. That’s not something that your regular warehouse forklift can do.

Compared to telehandlers like the Skytrak, the industrial forklift has limited use. It is only good for carrying very heavy loads.

Rough Terrain Forklift

Not all workspaces are created equal. Some work areas are the outdoors and in that case, the ordinary Skytrak Forklift performance will be useless. Forklifts that can deal with unpaved grounds and mud or snow are very useful for some industries.

Rough terrain forklifts are normally equipped with pneumatic tires. That is needed to keep the machine in the ground.

Pallet Jacks

Pallet jacks are small implements when compared to the forklifts we have mentioned here. They cannot raise the load to a great height but they are very useful for moving around light loads. They are used in interior workspaces when materials will have to be moved from one area to another.

Walkie Stacker

The walkie stacker is an elevated pallet jack. It is used for raising light loads. Skytrak Forklift offers maneuverability to its user and it is ideal for use in very small working areas that cannot accommodate forklifts.

Order Picker

The order picker is a specialized kind of Skytrak Forklift. It allows the user to go up and reach for items in storage. It is named as such because it lets the user retrieve an item without lifting the whole bunch.

Other types of forklifts are available. There is the reach fork truck for example, which is used indoors. When you purchase the right forklift for your business, you need to think about these options we have mentioned and decide the kind of use for which you might have.

Now when picking the type, you should always consider the power source and the lift load capacity of the forklift that you are getting. Those are very crucial considerations. You should also consider the operator’s comfort when picking your choice.

If your business is growing, then you should consider a purchase of a forklift to speed things up. But you should be aware of the responsibilities that it entails. Skytrak, for example, is very useful in places where you will have to reach great heights and the loads that you are dealing with are quite heavy.

Skytrak Forklift is designed for rugged terrain and it has been tested to carry the loads. It also has the power coming from its very strong engine that will not let you down. There are also accessories that you can add to the machine to make it more versatile. You can purchase a winch, for example, which will help you move objects that are too heavy for the machine.
